Sr. Development Organiser – Agriculture & Livelihood Promotion
Aga Khan Rural Support Programme India (AKRSP India) is a non-denominational, non-political, non-government organization. AKRSP India was established in 1983 and it seeks to contribute to rural poverty reduction through community involvement and empowerment that leads to efficient management and an improved environment.
Job location: Sakra of Muzaffarpur District of Bihar.
Position Summary The Sr. Development Organizer will support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of agriculture and livelihood promotion interventions aimed at enhancing farm productivity, diversifying income sources, strengthening farmer institutions, and improving household incomes among rural communities.
Key responsibilities:
1. Agriculture Promotion
- Mobilize and organize farmers into groups, producer collectives, and community institutions.
- Promote improved agricultural practices, climate-resilient farming, and sustainable natural resource management.
- Facilitate demonstrations, exposure visits, and farmer field schools on improved crop production technologies.
- Support the adoption of improved seeds, soil health management, integrated pest management, and efficient water-use practices.
- Promote vegetable cultivation, kitchen gardens, conservation agriculture, and diversified farming systems.
Livelihood Development
- Facilitate livelihood opportunities for smallholder and marginal farmers, women, and vulnerable households.
- Promote income-generating activities such as goat rearing, poultry, vermicomposting, nursery development, and other farm and non-farm enterprises.
- Support value chain development and market linkages for agricultural and livestock products.
- Identify local livelihood opportunities and assist beneficiaries in preparing livelihood plans.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with government departments, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), agricultural universities, banks, and other technical agencies.
- Facilitate convergence with relevant government schemes and programmes related to agriculture and livelihoods.
- Support partnerships with input suppliers, market actors, and service providers.
Monitoring, Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain beneficiary databases and field-level records.
- Track progress of agriculture and livelihood interventions against project targets.
- Document case studies, success stories, best practices, and lessons learned.
- Ensure timely submission of reports and programme documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Agriculture, Rural Development, Social Work (BSW/MSW), Development Studies, Agri-Business Management, or a related discipline.
- Degree/Diploma in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, Agricultural Extension, or Livestock Management.
- Min 3 -5 years’ experience in development sector particularly in Agriculture and livelihood related project
